“Our Maury County parks offer a range of recreational amenities like walking and biking trails, rugged hiking trails, many playgrounds, sports fields, pavilions, and open spaces for family gatherings or activities,” said Erin Jaggers, tourism director for Maury County, Tennessee. “We are fortunate to have the Duck River, which is the most biologically diverse river in North America, run through Maury County.
There are many walking trails along the river, and ramps to get boats, kayaks, and canoes out of for all of your water adventures.”
Maury County Park
Maury County Parks offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including walking trails, dog parks, and a jungle gym for children. The Maury County Parks and Recreation Department oversees six park facilities with a combined acreage of about 1,000 acres. Maury County is also connected to vast areas of state-managed recreational property that includes more than 14,000 acres. The Duck River runs through the heart of the county, offering its beauty and ecologically diverse environment for visitors to enjoy.

Storybook Trail
Read a book with your children as you walk together when you visit the Storybook Trail along the Nature Trail, located in Maury County Park. Children's storybooks are presented on child-height panels along a trail. Experience this outdoor reading adventure, which promotes adult-child interaction, and love of books and nature. Chickasaw Trace Park
Chickasaw Trace Park offers bike trails, walking trails, and a flying field, where visitors and family members are welcome.
Chickasaw Trace Park features 240 acres dedicated to outdoor recreation. Enjoy a scenic view of the Duck River or its tributary, Knob Creek. The Chickasaw Trace Park offers 9 miles of mountain bike trails, a boat ramp, a playground and the Derryberry Log Cabin. The Derryberry Log Cabin is a classic example of log construction in the region. Today, it welcomes guests to celebrate events, such as birthday parties and weddings.

Hampshire Park
Enjoy a relaxing day with your family at Hampshire Park, a 6.9-acre community park located in Hampshire, Tennessee. Hampshire Park features a playground, large green space, baseball field, basketball court, running track, and a park pavilion. Hampshire Park currently adjoins Hampshire Unit School of Applied Science and Natural Resources, preparing students for a variety of STEM fields.

Jerry Erwin Park
This 35.8-acre park is next to the Spring Hill Battlefield, where you can explore history related to the Civil War and Battle of Spring Hill. You will see historical markers in the parking lot and at the trailhead, revealing the history of the area. Jerry Erwin Park offers a .86-mile paved trail, and access points to McCormick Creek and its tributary drainage ways.

Fischer Park at Port Royal
Have a picnic, play, and enjoy the water sprinklers of the splash pad at Fisher Park. Fisher Park at Port Royal is a 30-acre park, offering a wide range of experiences, including a splash pad with water spray features, a playground, a concession building, football fields, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, a 3,000-foot walking path, amphitheater seating for special events and picnic pavilions. Stroll the sidewalks throughout the area, and when you’re ready to relax, you’ll find plenty of benches and umbrella-covered seating.

Yanahli Park
Visit Maury County’s largest park, Yanahli Park, to experience 474 acres of numerous ecosystems, diverse flora, and fauna, unique geologic and hydrological features. As you and your children wander the site, you will get a glimpse of the past as you see traces of historic settlements, burial sites, and rock walls. Bordered on three sides by the Duck River, the park features 2 miles of streams. The park’s name comes from the Chickasaw word meaning “to flow.” The name reflects the Chickasaw heritage and the impact of the Duck River on the region.
Walk the nearly 2-mile paved trail and enjoy the scenery. You will see varying forest types, beautiful landscapes, rich woods adorned with wildflowers, and managed cornfields. Not only will you experience the splendor of the landscape, but you will also experience nature’s sounds as you will hear the songs of the birds. The ecosystem diversity has created a wide variety of habitats for numerous animals including migratory birds.

William Spring Park
Williams Spring Park is a 24.3-acre park between Columbia and Mt. Pleasant. William Springs Park invites your family to explore .5-mile paved trail, two playgrounds, and three pavilions with electricity, water, and grills.

Riverwalk Park
Riverwalk Park is just off the Downtown Square in Columbia and features a paved walking path that connects historic downtown Columbia to Riverwalk Park and up to the local dam. See the excitement of your children as they enjoy the splash pad and the basketball court. Riverwalk Park hosts a variety of events, including the First Tennessee Muletown Barbecue Cookoff, Meriwether Lewis Arts and Crafts Fair, Movies in the Park, and concerts. Local growers invite you to purchase fruit and vegetables at the farmers market, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, May – October.
