About the event
The City of Columbia, Parks and Recreation, is having our annual Veterans Day Program entitled “Portraits of Patriotism.” The times are from 9 – 2 pm. It will be an outside event located at Riverwalk Park in Columbia. There will be 20 personal displays throughout the park honoring our local veterans. They will remain in the park for 30 days. NOTE: There will not be a rain date in case of inclement weather.
The opening ceremony will begin at 10:00. We are inviting veterans to be present during the ceremony, as this is the time we make special mention about their service and sacrifice. Participants are encouraged to thank veterans for their service, and ask them questions about when, where, and how they served.
The Tennessee National Guard will be in full uniform and have multiple vehicle and weapons on display. They will be available to answer any questions you may have about the equipment they use, and the service they perform for our nation and state. Recruiters will be present to explain career options in the Tennessee Army National Guard, and how they serve the State of Tennessee in various roles.
Vintage military vehicles and weapons will be on display, along with camouflage face painting. This is a community event for the whole family, and an opportunity to honor those who put their lives on the line for our freedoms.
