Mule Day has been a cherished tradition in Columbia since the 1840s. Originally known as “Breeder’s Day,” it began as a one-day livestock show and mule market held on the first Monday in April. Over the years, the event grew, and in 1934, the first official Mule Day took place, featuring a parade and a mule show in downtown Columbia. Since then, Mule Day has expanded into a multi-day festival that draws thousands of visitors. The highlight of the celebration is Saturday’s Mule Day parade, but there’s much more to experience. Attendees can enjoy square dancing, mule-driving contests, horse shows, craft fairs, and flea markets. Additional events include "working mule" and "best of breed" competitions, as well as other thrilling contests. The festival also showcases various food, music, dancing, and crafts, making it a true celebration of heritage and community.
Mule Day Parade will take place on Saturday April, 5 beginning at 11 am.
